A Few Odds & Ends

Night at the Symphony

Till Fellner

Till Fellner

A week ago tonight we went to the San Francisco Symphony: Till Fellner performed Mozart‘s Piano Concerto No. 24 in c Minor, K 491 (1786).

Flawless, intricate voicing. And the symphony was at its best, with Semyon Bychkov conducting. The balance. The classical period restraint. The symbiosis.

Gorgeous!

I so wish Mozart had lived to be an old man. His numerous compositions in such a short life are a tremendous gift!

Dinner before the Symphony

It’s hard to go wrong with restaurant dining in this city, but we were a bit worried as these were last minute reservations.

I had never heard of Il Borgo, an Itlaian restaurant a few blocks from Davies Hall.

Il Borgo Italian Restaurant, San Francisco, CA

The food wasn’t just delicious, it was fresh beyond belief. I have never, in all of my life, had potatoes this fresh. I swear, I think they plucked them out of the earth behind the restaurant just before preparing them.

I highly recommend Il Borgo. The veal piccata was spectacular, but the vegetables were unparalleled!

Best Birthday Card Ever

Favorite cuz sent Steve the best birthday I’ve seen in years, and years! The cat looks just like Conrad the Kat, our Beast, when he’s in a mood! And our Nissan Leaf, Chloé is red.

Yes, the HU is getting old, though he denies it!

I’ve included a scan of it in this post.

Way to go cuz!
