These pictures were all taken on our 9 mile hike back into the lush  Norwegian Forest.  Once we arrived at the glacier, we hiked atop it for about 1.5 miles in the  torrential rains.  At times dangerous, grueling, exhausting and always breath-taking, this was probably the most adventurous thing I've ever done in my life.

I anticipated hopping out of the car onto the glacier for a quick jaunt.  This was instead a vigorous climb, an expedition into the heart of mother nature herself.

I had to use krampons, rope and an ice pick to walk on the glacier itself.  The weather was sunny at times, and a torrential downpour on the glacier.  The temperature on the glacier was cold, otherwise the hiking was comfortably cool.

I highly recommend www.villmarkssenter.no.  The owner, the most physically fit man I've ever met, was our patient guide.
